How does a supplier get into the Lab Perks directory?

Which stores the directory is for

Lab Perks lists online stores that sell research peptides and related laboratory materials, run as their own business and delivering to US addresses. The people reading the directory are research buyers: labs, companies and individual researchers, some of whom have paid for a membership to see the discount each store offers them.

The directory is a yellow-pages style list, not a marketplace. A listing points buyers to the supplier's own website, and any order happens there, on the supplier's terms.

The five things every listing needs

The same requirements apply to every store. They are spelled out on the List your store page, and a store has to meet all five.

1. It ships within the United States

Membership is sold to buyers with a US billing address, so a listing is only useful if the store delivers to US addresses. A store that doesn't deliver in the US can't be listed.

2. It sells for laboratory research use only, and says so

The store's own website has to state clearly that what it sells is for laboratory research use only. The listing text has to stay inside the same boundary: it describes the store, such as the kind of catalog it keeps or how it takes orders, and never what a material might be used for outside the lab.

3. It offers one standing member code

Each store gives members a single discount code that works for every Lab Perks member for as long as the store is listed. The supplier chooses the offer, for example a percentage or a fixed amount off. The offer text is public; the code itself is shown only to members.

4. It writes its own listing

The one-line description on a listing is the supplier's, in its own words, at most 160 characters. The supplier also picks the directory categories that fit. We don't rewrite the line into a recommendation, and the listing page labels it as the supplier's own description.

5. It agrees to be listed, in writing

We publish only a listing, an offer and a code that the supplier has sent us and confirmed in writing. A store is never added on our own initiative; the application itself ends with the supplier's confirmation.

How an application is checked

The route from first email to a live listing has four steps:

1. The supplier writes to support@labperks.com with the details asked for on the List your store page, from the one-line description to the member code and a contact for updates. The button on that page fills the email in.
2. We compare the application with the five requirements, and look at the store's own website for its US delivery and its research-use statement.
3. An application that meets them is confirmed with the supplier in writing: listing text, offer and code. One that doesn't is declined.
4. The listing goes live. From that day it shows an "In the directory since" date, and the supplier's code appears in the list of every active member.

What a listing shows, and to whom

Anyone can read the public part of a listing: the store name, its website, the supplier's one-line description, its categories and its member offer. The code is the only members-only field, and it appears in one place, the member area. Codes are never printed on public pages, in search results or in the site's machine-readable files.

Stores are sorted alphabetically and every listing gets the same space. There are no rankings, ratings, featured spots or "best of" lists. Being listed means a store met the requirements and offers a member discount; it is not an endorsement, and Lab Perksdoes not vouch for any supplier's products or service. Keeping a listing current

Offers change. A supplier updates its offer or code, or asks to be removed, by emailing support@labperks.com; removal requests are always honoured. A listing that stops meeting the requirements, for example because the store no longer says it sells for research use only, is taken down under the research-use policy.

The directory's categories

Each supplier files itself under one or more of five categories, and buyers can filter the directory by any of them:

• Catalog research peptides: Stores with a standing online catalog.
• Custom synthesis: Made-to-order sequences and modifications.
• Bulk & institutional: Larger quantities, quotes and purchase orders.
• Reagents & building blocks: Amino acids, resins and related inputs.
• Lab supplies: Consumables and equipment for the bench.
